Is this what “small clusters, tiny berries” looks like?

It’s harvest time in California. There will be lots of hype and PR flying around, claiming yet another vintage of the millennium.

Among the buzz terms bandied about will be “low yields“, “small clusters“, “tiny berries“…

I have helped pick in a tough year and have seen what this can mean. A bit of shot berries is good – both for keeping the clusters ventilated and for more concentrated flavors.

Call me a cynic, but whenever I hear: “low yields“, “small clusters“, “tiny berries” I cannot help but picture grapes like those in the picture above.
